Day by day
- Day 1
San Cristóbal & the highlands
Pine-oak and cloud forest around San Cristóbal for Pink-headed Warbler, Garnet-throated Hummingbird, Rufous-browed Wren and Black-throated Jay. Optional evening owling for Bearded Screech-Owl.

- Day 2
Sumidero Canyon
A morning above the Grijalva at Sumidero for Belted Flycatcher, Slender Sheartail and Red-breasted Chat, then on to Ocozocoautla with owling at El Ocote for Black-and-White Owl, Crested Owl, Spectacled Owl.

- Day 3
El Ocote & La Sepultura
The limestone forest of El Ocote for Nava's Wren, Keel-billed Toucan and Green Shrike-Vireo, and a host of lowland jungle specialists. Continuing to the Sierra Madre slopes on the Pacific side for the flagship Rose-bellied Bunting, Orange-breasted Bunting, Cinnamon-tailed Sparrow and Citreoline Trogon, before the trip ends.
